Help - Solid State Control Panel

I need to replace the 'Panel Display' switch on my Solid State Control Panel. My old one worked fine (and panel displayed good) until my wife pushed the switch too hard and broke it...

Can I solder any 12v switch as a replacement? What can I use as a replacement? Is this something that I can simply solder in?

As a temp solution, I was thinking on soldering 2 wires and simply touch the wire ends together (manual switch) to display the tank status. Can I do this or is it not recommended?

Control Panel Switch

Take the switch out and try Radio Shack or any electronics parts place that is in your area. It may end up a different color but the switch will work.

Is your broken switch a push on to read and then does it turn off when released? Or is it a push/click on and then another push/click to turn it off? If this is the type of stand alone switch that you have, a soldered on replacement switch should work for you, Just make sure that the replacement has strong enough electrical contacts to carry the load. If this is out of line, someone else should assist here s this was about to drop off the front page.

My switch is:
  • push on to read and then release to turn off
I'll try Radio Shack for a replacement. I guess it's time to buy a soldering gun

I have found switches at NAPA when Radio Shack did not have what I needed. Other auto supply stores should have something depending on what's in your area. You should be able to find a replacement to avoid the "hold the wires together" technique.

You will never regret the soldering gun. Get heat-shrink tube too and you are in a new realm of electric repairs.
