GFCI outlet . . .
I’m on shore power. I had my laptop connected to the outlet directly behind the drivers seat send suddenly the outlet had no power. It’s a GFCI outlet with reset and test buttons and it feeds three other outlets . . . 2 in the van and 1 outside. All of the other outlets work fine. I’m a long way from home and have no tools with me but I went to Home Depot and purchased another GFCI outlet and installed it. Same result. Any ideas?

Do the other outlets work?
Even so, check the circuit breaker.

Circuit breaker is ok.
When I trip it, no outlets work. When it is engaged all outlets work except the outlet behind the driver seat. Thanks for your reply! I am stumped.

it is common to have outlets S side of the GFI socket wired in series. ie, the other sockets are protected by the same GFI socket
when the GFI socket trips , all the s side sockets go out
as they are supposed
check the wiring

Welcome to the forum Boon!
First, sorry about your problem. There are relative few Interstate owners (compared to trailer owners) here, but plenty still. Many who are very accomplished in electrical matters.
If you cannot wait for one of them to respond, you might try giving Airstream support a call or e-mail.
https://www.airstream.com/company/contact/
Good luck.

GFCI receptacle
Hi,
Have you explored how GFCIs work? If not, research how they work. This may lead you to the source of your problem. I think you problem is upstream from where you are connecting your PC. This link may help.

I'm guessing your laptop works in the other outlets?

Possible cause
We had the same problem in our 2019 GT. Turns out there is a tiny reset switch in the bottom of the controller, which in our case is under the bed. Have to find the switch by feel but the controller should easy to spot. Switch is on the bottom, front left as you look at it (green light would be on top right side). Felt like a rocker switch vs button.

This sounds like a great solution, but controller for what?

I had this issue once, and the reset is actually on the inverter/charge controller box for that specific outlet. Depending on your model, the Magnum is either under the rear seat or under the bed. I actually had to pull the rear seat off to get at the inverter, but that is where the problem is. I have learned not to use that outlet for heavy loads, as the reset is relatively difficult.

Excellent explanation. So this outlet doesn't work but downstream outlets will be hot?

I am now convinced that this ONE GFCI outlet is NOT connected to the other 3 GFCi outlets in the motorhome. The circuit breaker I found control only those 3. So the question is where does the one GFCI get its power. The circuit breakers in the back are not tripped. There are several fused under the driver's seat . . and one response I read said it had a separater reset switch. Can't find it. I'm wondering if this GFCI was included by Mercedes and is completely separate from any Airstream circuits. I appreciate all ideas. I even wrote Airstream . . how long before they respond?? Thanks for all suggestions.

Thanks . . . just got reply from Airstream. Said same thing you said, except they indicated switch on right side. Regardless, I have to take the seat frame off to get to it. At least I have a plan.

I wasn’t able to get a picture of the bottom but this link will give you some downloadable manuals that talk about the overload protection. I found out about it troubleshooting the problem with Airstream over the phone. I recommend calling vs email.

Solved! This ONE GFIC recepticle is powered by the INVERTER. The reset switch is actually on the inverter. The other 3 GFIC receptacles are controlled by one circuit breaker in the panel. I assumed wrong that the receptacle behind the driver's seat fed the other 3 . . . but it does not. It is independent. Thanks for everyone's input!
