Generators - Poor Choice For Charging Batteries?

I am usually trying to keep the batteries above 12 volts so I am looking at charging at around 12.1 to 12.4. I do not know if I would get charging at 11 volts battery voltage or not. Maybe having AGMs and running to lower voltages would produce more charging?

We dry camp a great deal and did so long before LED lights or solar panels were available. I have never carried a generator and use Jumper Cables when I want to charge the batteries quickly. Not to hijack this discussion about charging, but that was a Great article Andy...did not know about that magazine; Thanks for sharing that. When we go to Borrego and a couple places boondocking in the boonies..we also do the graywater sharing with nature; not in the National Parks however.(that comment may ignite this thread.....
