Generator Operation in Truck Box

just bought 7.5 ft aluminum ramps. 33 lbs for the pair.$133 delivered through Amazon. I had shorter steel ramps but they weigh 70 lbs for the pair and the angle is a bit steep. designed for use with a min van.
they are coming tomorrow and I will post an update. May take the ramps with me when I travel as they are light and will negate the necessity of running the gen in my truckbed. Plastic Liner.
Will secure to truck with heavy duty chain or bike U-lock if possible. The new ramps have a slight curve to them so that the genny wont bottom out during loading and unloading.
Alot of people mount there gennys street side to the truck box but that adds tongue weight. I will keep mine pushed forwards of the rear wheels to negate that problem.

A quick check on e-bay and you can find exhaust extensions for popular generators that may stick out the truck cover.
I'd try to make the pipe as wide as possible to reduce back pressure. Then I'd add an outboard fan blowing towards the back. (you can always use a fan, right?)
I have a Tundra with a Leer 700 tonneau, and the Honda 3000 fits under it fine. I'd raise the cover to vent when running. I have a hefty cable/lock and the tailgate locks, so stealing the Honda by lifting the 150# over the tailgate unnoticed is unlikely.

I've drawn up a plan for an aluminum plate with wheels that will allow me to roll the 3000 to the front for driving and closer to the back for running. It has some bends so the wheels (6-2") will run in the bed grooves, but only stick down 3/4"

Just returned from 2 week trip through the Rockies including Banff, Jasper, Radium Hot springs in Canada, then 5 days in West Glacier area. Used my new Champion dual fuel with my portable 20lb tank the whole way; total around ~20 hours runtime, and still had 4 lbs left when I went to fill. I have a tri-fold cover, which I fold up when generator is in use; this trip I had my kayaks also this trip so cover was 2/3rds folded the whole trip but provided good cover for the generator while traveling. When using the Champion, I simply lift the end handle and roll it out from under the tri-fold, connect to propane and it works fine. I have a rubber mat liner for the bed. I did lift it out and used on the ground for 4 nights since at that sight I could run all day and wanted to use the truck; 95lbs with the two handles was not that difficult for me. (yet) The sound meter showed comparable ratings at 20 feet 56-59db. I asked my neighbors in Canada if the noise bothered them, and was told no, very quiet. Nice not to carry gas....
I am now working on the hose connection to the QD on the front of the Airstream for extended use. (Now that adventure is still challenging...not an off the shelf hose item, I am finding out!)
