generator on a 2 ac AS

Im looking at a 27 FB with two AC units that runs on 50 amp service. I have two of the Honda 2000 that link to generate about 3500-4000 KW. So if Im boon docking, will I be able to use this setup with a 50-30 amp conversion link, if I just run one AC unit? I would assume yes, as this has worked fine for me in my previous 30 amp trailer with one AC (yes it did take some awareness not to run the electric water heater and sometimes the microwave )

Yes you can run a single AC with two honda 2000s. You are correct about using the 50->30amp adapter.

Running a single AC works fine on two Honda generators. I also would recommend the AC being used with these generators, to be equipped with "Easy Start" to reduce startup load requirements, and therefore extend the life of that AC unit.

Remember, if the generators can not provide enough “kick” to get the compressors started in You a/c unit, over time damage to your a/c unit will occur, thus the “Easy Start” kit which I speculate is more or less adding a capacitor to “precharge” the amperage tothe a/c with enough juice to get the compressor started runnng.

Nope. The easy start uses a microprocessor and a bunch of components to ramp up the start current in a very controlled manner over time, provides safety controls, and locks out the compressor into a delay if all is not well. Itís not just a simple capacitorówhich cannot do as you describe anyway.

Two AC w easy start

I've read some have been able to run an AC unit w easy start on just one generator. Any chance of running 2 AC's w ES w two of the generators?

Given two sufficiently powerful generators, sure. I run a single air conditioner on a Champion 3400 watt dual fuel inverter generator with an EasyStart, but Iím the Overkill Engineering Department Head. But hey, I have to deal with high altitudes out here on the Left Coast...

I donít have the gensets you have so this may all be hogwash.

If the AC units had EasyStarts - maybe. Depending on heat, altitude and fuel type. So there are a lot of variables.

Assuming you get them started (and not at the same time) the AC units would take about 3,800 watts to run ( 13.5k BTU requires 1,800 watts and the 15k BTU requires 2,000 watts to run.

https://powerequipment.honda.com/gen...timation-guide

So if you can coax 4,000 wats out of the pair it might work. You would not have much room to run anything else.

If ďmightĒ or ďmaybeĒ are ok - go for it. Otherwise if you need it to work regardless of all the variables, a bigger generator or set of generators with a 50amp parallel kit may be the way to go.

generator on a 2 ac AS

The thing you canít fall into is building a system with no margin for altitude and high temperature. Itís also necessary to consider that running a generator at the absolute top end of its rating will wear it out in a hurry.

I laugh about Overkill, but a 3400 watt generator running a single air conditioner at part throttle will both last longer and be quieter than trying to do the same thing with a 2100 watt generator. Add in high ambient air temperature, and add a few thousand feet of altitude, and you run out of power on a just barely big enough generator that was enough in cool weather at sea level.

Just because a generator is labeled that it puts out 2100 watts, for example, does not mean it will do it continuously or under all circumstances.

Thatís where the engineering trade-offs begin, and why I went to a 3400 watts rated single generator. And I can bet Iíll encounter conditions where it wonít work well enough. Hopefully it will be at high altitude where itís a lot cooler...
