Electrical - this cord goes into a green box

(electrical) the box is similar color to the Onan generator,
and is mounted just in fromt of it...what is the cord for?

I have a 36' land yacht motor home, and am
wondering about an electric system component
i have....it is a power cord located in front of the generator..
but not attached directly to it. the 3 prongs are a bit different from the 30 amp cord that connects to the rear (main) electric connection.

it has 3 prongs, and one is round, the other two are slanted (not parallel with each other.

sort of like this...if the spacing comes thru in the post.

the main plug looks more like this

with a little "j" prong on the lower element.

i am too far from the power source for the power cord to reach the back of the rig, and wonder if
i can plug in the cord that comes out of the mid-
section, but want to make sure what it is prior to doing that.

It may be for the motor home to plug into the generator. There should be a female plug on the wall of the generator compartment, is there anything plugged into that?

the generator does power the coach, and so i do not think this is for sending power
to the systems...it has a male plug (that may determine which way current flows thru)
the small box has a label that says SWITCH, Plano, TX and it has a 30 amp cord.
I took some pix..i will try to figure out how to post them...(go advanced??)
this "switch" box is wired to a junction box (i think that's what you call 'em)
a 4 " square metal box that has a wire that seems to go to the back of the generator.
