electrical problem

Posted this on another site, but decided to post here as well. I lost power in the outlets in the back of the trailer and bathroom. the front vent fan had been running all day and the battery was pretty low. We had power in the kitchen and living room thought. About 10 the humming of the converter started up and then something else, much lowder, started and went on and on and on. I went to bed about midnight, apparently it was still going when PJ got up and noticed a funny smell like insulation burning. For some reason she suspected the outside lights were on so she checked them. The loud sound stopped when she turned on the lightsand a quick check revealed we now had power all the way around. We have had it since. Any ideas?
