Electrical Problem 1973 Excella

I have plugged my baby into the house system using a household cable and used it to run lights and the fridge for months without a problem. Yesterday I had to take it out for a run. When I try to plug it back in today it blows the fuse in the house system. I have disconnnected the battery and turned off all electrics, tried a new extension cable and tried different outlets with the same outcome. Any suggestions. This is my first year so I appreciate this site more that I can have ever known with the assistance and camaraderie.

I had the same problem

Same problem.
First it was the dogbone adapter.
I replaced it. That worked for a couple of weeks.
Started again. It was the 30 amp pigtail head from the trailer.
If you look at it you may see where it has arced. I bought a 30 amp 25 foot extension cord and cut off the female end, wires into the circuit breaker box.
Hard to feed into the lower bulkhead.
Head can be changed, but I could not find a watertight replacement head.

Tincan,
OK, you have a short, now lets find it. You probably have only (2) 120v circuits, the AC, and the Cabin, but if you have more, fine.
You will need a battery operated continuity tester.
(1) Disconnect power from the house.
(2) Go to your trailer Circuit Breaker box.
(3) Test continuity between a BLACK wire on a Circuit Breaker and any WHITE wire.
(Do not go to GROUND because on a trailer the WHITE and Ground are separate)
(4) If you get a reading, that is the bad circuit, and you just have to follow the wire
to find it. Double check yourself by switching off the Circuit Breaker, and connect the house connection. If the house Circuit breaker does NOT trip, then you are sure you have the right circuit.
Hope this helps.

tincanholiday.

There is a solid #10 wire that goes to ground at the left side of the sewer compartment. You may have to pull some metal to find it.

When that ground wire gets loose, it causes some wild problems.

Lack of proper running gear balance, makes it come loose.
