I have a 2003 Dometic RV refrigerator model RM2551 for my 64 Safari. It requires constant 12vDC to operate the circuit board. The installation manual says to use distinct 12vDC + and - wires for this. I have an existing 12vDC + line run to the refrigerator area. My 12vDC system uses frame/shell for 12vDC – to ground. Do I need to install new 12vDC +/- lines or can I use the existing wire and run the – line to frame ground?

Frame ground has worked for me. Just be sure to hit a rib or other thick metal. All of the 12 VDC is running on a common frame ground anyhow.
