Dometic Comfort Control Center 2 Thermostat

Is it just me or is the Dometic thermostat in newer Airstreams a bit too complicated? I have a 2013 International Serenity. A few months back on our maiden voyage, we are sleeping soundly until we are awoken by the smoke detector going off at 3:00 a.m. Our furnace had kicked on and it was blowing out an oily smell because it was new. It took forever to get the heat turned off. I have played a bit with it, but I can never get a grasp of it. We have been out many times in it, but never needed heat or AC. Now that fall is coming, we will be taking it out and I know I will need heat. Is there a YouTube video of some sort on operating this thermostat? Thanks for any suggestions.

no video but early into trying to change settings i made a cheat sheet to reset the default settings and taped it near the thermostat. it is hard to learn things when it is 95* in the trailer and the air won't come on. i gave up on the timed programming settings.

Your trailer came with an Airstream case of paper. The thermostat instructions would be in the case.

I do have the manual in the trailer as well as an electronic version, but it is more of a technical manual. I want the idiot version, the one that says do this ... Thanks though.

I can help you a little.
1 The mode setting will switch the unit from AC to HP then furnace as the temp goes down.
2 The fan can be cycled from auto to low, med, and high and they run all the time. Auto will cycle off when not required.
2 You can select only furnace if you chose to. Or AC only. Or HP only. I think they all have there own set points.
3 Never touch the zone key it is for units that have two or three AC or HP units.
4 You can cycle though the zones and get out of it. But it is a pain. Don't touch it.
5 If the campground has low power the unit will get an error.
6 Use a 50 to 30 amp adapter on your cord to avoid this.
7 Don't try to program it.

Thanks for the help. This is what I was looking for. The Airstream guy who was checking me out on the trailer basically said the thermostat was a pain in the butt and the manual would be of little help. He said just to play around with it. I guess that's what I will have to do. Thanks again.

Does anyone know of a simple aftermarket Thermostat? I do not need all of the bells and whistles. I just want to select AC or Furn and set the temp.

Your CCC-2 is a proprietary device from Dometic that uses digital communication between the t/stat and the control board located in the upper unit. To my knowledge, there is no other product available that will work with it.

Lewster, can I replace the CCC-2 with a Dometic Single Zone control unit? I think my CCC-2 is shot. I can't get it to communicate with the power board after my PTCR caught on fire. I've replaced the power board, capacitor, new style PTCR.
The CCC-2 I have now will not reset, even with a new communication cable. I do have power to the CCC-2, but it Does the FF > EE trick when I try to reset.
Next step I was going to order a new Single Zone Dometic LCD thermostat since I only have a single AC/Furnace/Heat strip.
Thanks.

Mode

The MODE button switches between Furnace, Air,Auto, and HP (Heat pump), and Off.

IMHO "Auto" is a pure pain in the nether regions. Set it on Auto and set the temp to 72... then the air conditioning will cool it down to about 71 and stop. About 2 minutes later the heat pump will come on and raise the temperautre then stop... then two minutes later, guess what?

/\ raises the temperature set point by one degree each time you hit it
\/ lowers the temp by one degree

FAN - pretty much leave it on AUTO

Once you set the Air conditioning temp, the set point remains the same. Ditto for heat pump. I set the heat pump for 69 and the A/C for 75. This time of year, that generally means neither are running. If it's cold I switch to heat pump, warm and muggy I use a little bit of Air conditioning.

During high summer I change the set point of the AC from 75 to 80 when I leave for the day. No point in trying to turn an empty trailer into an icebox, but also don't want to come home to a a temperature of 100 or more and try to cool it from there. The campground saves money and I don't have to worry about the vinyl flooring buckling, etc.

That's a new one...... Not sure, but you would need the entire single zone kit which also comes with a new control board. The biggest issue would be running new wiring (3 conductor 18AWG min. ) from the new board to the t/stat.

Give Dometic tech support a call and have your A/C model number ready. They will know for sure.

Maybe someone can suggest a fix for a problem we had last weekend. While camping near Acadia National Park last week, we set the Auto function on our 2014 28' International. In the middle of the night we were awakened by the (very loud) heat pump, which had come on instead of the furnace. Temp was fine, but we had to change the setting to Furn in order to gets one sleep.

That would be "some sleep", not "one sleep", of course.
