Did I mess up with my generators

I recently purchased 2 Honda EU2000i generators with the parallel connection cables and I was not aware of the Honda EU2000i companion that has the 30amp receptacle built in. My current receptacles with my units are standard house type plugs. Did I mess up with this or can I use some kind of adapter so I can power my A/c?

The companion makes things simple.

I understand now. When I bought them I did not see the companion. Live and learn I guess!

Do you need that part to run your AC or can you use an adapter?

You just need the RV adapter and the parallel cables if one of your generators is a companion. If you don't have a companion, only two standard 2000 hondas, you need this kit to give you a 30 amp circuit.

That $190 cable at rvcountry is $50 at Amazon without that extra box. I just use the $50 cable to run AC with my two Hondas

The box is to provide a 30 amp circuit. Only 20 amp circuits available without a companion generator or the Honda parallel kit.

If 20 amps is sufficient, then you are correct, all you need is the cables.

My AC, 15,000 BTU, trips a 20 amp breaker if anything else cycles on with AC running.

Best Fuel for Honda

Have had EU2000i & companion for 3 years. Recently, in Eco Mode, one of the generators started running very roughly. Took it into local Honda dealer who cleaned fuel lines & carburetor with a suggestion. If you are in a state requiring ethanol infused gas, it will accelerate deterioration in your fuel line/system. While additives help, they suggested using "clear gas", non-ethanol fuel only. Here, it currently runs about $4.50 a gallon & available only at a few gas stations. The problem is compounded by cheap metals being used by foreign manufacturers on engine parts that break down more quickly.

Oldforester, get some Startron fuel additive and pour a little in with your generator' gas. It has an enzyme that removes the ethanol leaving you with gas that won't cause the problem you described. The dealer where I bought my generators (2 Honda 2000s) highly recommended it and I've had trouble-free operation of my generators even after they sit unused for months on end. I add it to the fuel for my lawn equipment and motorcycle too. Startron is available at most auto parts stores in your area.

Can you still try to return/exchange it for the right one?
