DC doesn't work in Front section, only??

Hi, My 1972 Ambassador has a DC problem in that the control panel, reading lights and the hitch motor only works when the trailer is connected to the tow vehicle. This is true even with AC hooked up.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Best regards,

Terry

Sounds like a blown fuse on the DC distribution panel. It should be on or near your converter.

Is the Coverter the Box where AC comes in. It has two circuit breakers which I've cycled several times.. I see a 'circuit breaker' in the DC Schematic that is between the tow connector and the control panel.

The box you are seeing is for the shore power (120 volts). The converter converts 120 volts AC to 12 volts DC. If yours is the original it is a UniVolt and it most likely hums when the trailer is connected to shore power. Mine is in a closet in the bathroom and I would suspect that yours would be somewhere in the bathroom area as well. The 12 volt distribution panel will either be attached to the unit or somewhere else close by. All of the 12 volt circuits attach to this panel and each has a fuse. This is mine:

When I lost power in 1/2 of my 70 globetrotter it turned out to be a large wirenut splice in the ceiling . This required pulling the ceiling center panel so save this solution for last, after all else fails
