Question Control Panel Questions for my '72

Hi all,
Took a close look at my control panel for the first time and noticed several light bulbs are burnt out. The only identifier I could find was the number "53X." I'm having trouble finding it online and at local auto stores. Any clues or tips where I can find them?

Also, It looks like the analog clock and temperature dials aren't working. Any tips on how to work on these?

Finally, there are a few cracks and chips in the control panel itself. How would one go about repairing these?

Thanks in advance,
Mello Mike

Have you gone to Radio Shack, they may have cross refarance . Just bring the old bulb with you. If you do not like the shack try your favorite electonics store or Ham store that selle electronic radio equipment.

I'm also in the same boat as you. My bulbs are good but the clock and temp are down. I also have a large (ugly) crack in the face. If I wanted to replace the whole unit and put in a newer style, what type should I use??? My A/S is pretty funky inside so I don't really care about keeping it. I'll list my unit here when I replace it. Thanks for any help.

Maybe you already know this, but the clock works on I believe a C battery. We have not actually put a battery in ours yet, so I'm not positive on the size.

Will be interested in hearing about tips on the temp dial.

Talking "I see a bright future is in store for you"

Regarding the 53x bulb, its cross references are 53X-USA
and CM53X, specs are: category: Miniaturevolts: 14.4amp/watt: .12A / 1.73Wbase: BA9s - Miniature Bayonetglass: G-3-1/2filament: C-2Vm.o.l.: 15/16 inchesl.c.l.: 7/16 incheslumens: MSCP:.75 (candle power)
An autoparts store should have a cross over (NAPA etc)

if not check this link: http://donsbulbs.com/cgi-bin/r/b.pl/53x.html

Hi Mark,
the bulbs you want are 1445 by EIKO AVALIBLE in your local parts store. All it is a small 12v bulb. The cost is 2.75 for 4 bulbs. About you crack in pannel if it is plastic maybe some pvc glue will bond it together. May not look purty but will be functional.
