Coach Batteries ?

I have a 1991 34ft Ecella 1000 that has two coach batteries. My question is can I safely use only one battery. I don`t do any dry camping and the only time I need the battery power is for the power jack. If It is safely possible to get by with one battery then will it matter which side is used. Thanks Davis

Davis.

You can use either battery.

But, you must use one of them, your choice.

You also need the battery to power the brakes when the break-away switch is closed. That happens when the trailer says bub-bye to the tow vehicle while in tow. This being the MAIN reason that you need at least one battery.
Hope this helps.

Yes you can do that but to maintain them, I would keep them connected in parallal and use them both so they receive the same charge (as a bank) and remain in the same condition, hopefully. If there is a reason you need to pull one, do it but one could possibly act different later and affect the whole bank. In other words, your charger will treat both batteries as one when you bring it back in the system so they should be equal for the charger to do it's job correctly.

Hi,
Thanks for the info. I am planning on buying one new battery to replace my two aged batteries that are ready to retire. Davis

In that case you will be fine. Remember to pull the quick disconnect from the compartment not used so the cables don't arc when your bouncing down the road.
