Broken wiring in tail lights

My Argosy t/t 1974 '24 has a broken black wire in the passenger side tail light assembly [stop / turn bulb - not the b/u]. That's why the light won't work (it did recently - new bulb too). I took off the cover and opened the light assembly and saw the black wire free (about 3" then a metal crimp - I assume this is where the assembly was originally hooked up to the long wire).

I can not find the "other" section of the black wire. I started from the pig tail and notice the wires run through the street side frame and disappear into the "under belly" of the trailer.

Does anyone know how this model was wired for tail lights? I mean, where do the wires run?

I was thinking of splicing in at a convenient spot. It seems like I would have to cut into the aluminum somewhere (ahhh)

Any other ideas?

I can not find nor get to the wire (I tried a vacuum - no luck).

Also - any ideas on where to get replacement lights? The lights are about 4" x 9" in a rectangular shape. The manuf was Peterson Manuf out of MO - still there but they no longer manuf that light assembly nor cover - per co. e-mail).

Any help appreciated.

Argosy, You might try looking at the road side tail light and see if the wire comes in through there. I assume that you lost the it.I have a '71 Int. AS and I noticed that the left b-u got its power from the right side. That crimped end should have a female end, that you are looking for. Just a suggestion. Tom

just replaced my signal wiring, had bellypan off and found wire was getting raggelly. It runs curbside thru frame holes to last frame beside black tank then runs thru side of the frame toward the curb in front of the rear bumper So you may try to access on the rear curbside panel outside the center frame where the blackwater tank is . Sorry this sounds so confusing- there may also be an extra wire in your harness, check diagram. otherwise just splice on a new wire and pull it thru where the old one was and hook it up to the light.

Thank you both - I'll check that out. I need to repair a leak in my grey water so when I open 'er up down under, I'll keep my eyes open for the wire. I figure I just have to find it (somewhere) and splice it with something new.

Just a crazy thought - in my Argosy t/t the back storage compartment - could I open up an access panel and find the wire(s) there?

I can't find a wiring diagram for my trailer ('74 '24 Argosy t/t).

couldn't get at wires from between the frame rails or the 'trunk " compartment of my 67 safari 22' The wires travel midlle side of curb rail until about 2'-3' from the rear then exit curbside through a hole toward the curb then disappear into the floor and I suppose between the inner and outer skin of the unit -- on to the light assemblys. Hopefully this will help with yours.tod47d
