Battery won't disconnect

2012 International 25' FB

It seems to be a cool weather thing. Quite often when the temp goes below 50 degrees the battery disconnect switch causes the relay to click but the red light stays on. The lights work, so the power is still on. I have to take a cable off the battery to get the relay to release.

Anybody else had this problem? I'm guessing a sticky relay.

Don

Red light stays on whether connected or disconnected if you're hooked up to shore power.

Yeah, noticed that, but it's not hooked to shore power in this case.

This is an old post, but since the same thing happened to me recently i thought I'd share what the issue was. Some messing around with the solenoid told me it was still working (could switch it by applying electricity directly). Tracked it back to the actual store/use switch itself. After removing the cover I found the connections to the switch covered in corrosion. A quick clean-up and all was well again Maybe someone will find it helpful!

I had this problem in my 2011 FC. I first replaced the relay itself, thinking that was the problem. It wasn't. Then I replaced the rocker switch that controls the relay, and all is well. I found both online by googling the serial numbers on the units. Hope this helps, Joe
