Argosy Generator

Merry Christmas

I have a recently purchased 76 Argosy MH with a Onan 4.0 BF 3CR generator.

The argosy has a "central control" unit that came, when I purchased it used, deattached with the vehicle. I recently wired it back up to see if it was working and to my surprise the "central control" lit up and when I pushed the generator start button it also lit up and turned on. I had a iPhone plugged into the wall and everything was working interior lights etc. I then plugged a small lamp in the wall outlet and 3 minutes later everything shut down and power was lost. I looked around and found a fuse inside the central control unit itself but when I opened it up, the fuse was good. I looked further and found one blown fuse on what they call the "univolt" and I replaced the fuse. I'm unsure if the fuse was blown prior to hooking up the central control or not. When I tried to turn the central control on, powers had still not returned. The central control wasn't physically reattached to the mh. I don't know if this could of caused a problem or not. I just wired it up to test it.

Is there another fuse or fuse box for the central

I turned the circuit breaker on and off. Still nothing.

Is there a way to turn the generator on without the use of the central control???

I have a Onan 4.0 BF 3CR late model.

I pushed the start button on top of the generator. Nothing happened.

The generator is working though. It was on early tonight.

Is there something I'm missing as far as steps to start the generator from outside the vehicle???

Thanks and have a Merry Christmas!'n

Photos of Central Control and Univolt System.

The fuse that was blown was on the right side, third one down (pink wire).

Since everything works on 12V I would find out where in the chain there is no voltage and work back from there. Manually apply 12V to the dead circuit and see if that fixes the problem. The system should work as long as you have a charged battery in the system even if the Univolt is not working. If you are using the original univolt converter, I would consider replacing it even if it is not the problem. Do you have a wiring diagram?

I do not have a wiring diagram Perry. I'm sure that would be helpful. Unfortunately all the wires are hidden away in the walls and ceiling. Thanks for the info.

I suggest you post in the motorhome section. There is plenty of knowledge (and you can get the wiring diagram if you search) over there but most MH members only look at the sections relevant to their interests, so I doubt you will get their attention in a specific restoration, repair, and parts forum.
