AC Help!!!!!!

Where do I need to look first ? My AC was running perfectly off of my generator. I moved the generator and put a 110 extension cord on it. It ran a short time and slowed down and my AC just shut off.

I hope it's nothing serious but where do I start to see if the AC will come back on? Are there circuit breakers? I looked at all of the fuses I could find and they seem to be ok.

I just had a new converter and electrical systme installed in my 1972 safari.

HELP!!!!

How big an extension cord? Length and wire gauge? If the extension cord does not supply sufficient amperage, the compressor can be damaged.

There are AC (Alternating Current) circuit breakers. In my rear bath Trade Wind they are under the bathroom sink. In my side bath Excella they are in the hall closet across from the bathroom.

Best of luck!

If I understand what you did was to attempt to run your AC while plugged into house current through an extension cord. If so that cord has to be at least a 3 wire #12 cord and not more that 25 ft long. The cord has to be plugged into a circuit that is at least 20 amps. Anything less than this will result in the cord heating up and the voltage dropping to a point that the AC will either shut down or be damaged. This is the mim. for a short term test run and should not be considered for running for more that a few minutes.

If you intend to run the AC at home you should install at least a 30 amp circuit and receptacle close to the trailer to insure sufficient power. The AC will run with lower voltage, result of undersized wiring, but it will do damage to the compressor from overheating.

The comments above are on the money. The compressor probably overheated and shut down. Let it cool, get a bigger cord, and try it again. Elminate all the other loads in the trailer, while the compressor is running.

Good Luck, its hot out.

So far all have the right answers. You should check cord, you could have melted it at either plug. You also could have fried your generator. Good luck and happy trails.
