93 Entrance Door Grab Handle/ doorbell

My doorbell does not work. The problem is corrosion of the doorbell wire located in the entrance grab handle which also houses the deadbolt lock. There is not enough wire to be able to work on it. It looks like I might have to take off the handle to access the wires. Anybody have any advice?

I am not sure if this is advice, but I owned an Airstream 310 motorhome with a working doorbell for about 10 years. No one even once used it, and I expect that about 99% of my visitors were not even aware that that little black button was a doorbell, or felt the need to use it.

I actually never envisioned a doorbell until I got this Excella a few months ago. I did think of hooking it up to an outdoor Aaoogah horn under the door, but you are probably right unless there was a big sign with arrows it would not get used.

The fix may be more trouble than it is worth.

Anybody else out there ever use your doorbell?

I repaired the doorbell on my 89 325LE. The wiring follows the channel down to the floor and exits through a hole near the entrance step. My doorbell which I replaced is located on the drivers side wall behind the couch.

I guess I have to do something, because right now I have a live wire in my handle.

My 310 had the power go to the doorbell chime itself first where it was fused, then on to the button for control. Disconnect the wires at the doorbell chime itself.
