Question 70s Central Control Panels

1.Are replacement rocker switches available anywhere for early 70s Cental Control Panels?
2. Does anyone know of anyone who I can send a control panel to for repairs?

I have a 73 where the battery condition guage never gets above fair, no matter if it has just been charged or not. I have a 71 where the battery condition guage needle does not move when I hit the rocker switch but will occassionally jump when the rocker switch is released.

3. I would also like to find a source for a new clock and other instruments which will fit the round hole cutouts.

Thanks

I'd be interested to know this too. The panel in my '77 half way works. I'd planned on junking it when I redo the rig, but it may be worth saving if parts are available. I hadn't looked into it yet to be honest.

Have you tried Inland RV?

The rocker switches are available at many auto part stores and some radioshack . Make sure it is OK for 12v . They're a bugger to get out from the front , but it can be done . If you have access to the back it's a piece of cake . Good luck

Marshall,

I started on our 71 panel by replacing the clock. Got the mechanism from the craft area of Joanns fabric - had to cut a little off the tip of the hour hand and paint the hands black - they didn't show up against the cream background and gold indicators on the panel. The barometer - if you have one, can be taken out and adjusted with a small set screw on the back based on the local pressure you can get off a local internet weather site - I just haven't bothered yet.

The bulbs can be found at Auto Zone. They also said they may be able to get the switches if we brought one in - as was advised above. We have the same switches controlling the outside lights and they are shorting out also on our unit. I haven't done it yet but my bet is you can open them, clean them and adjust the tension. If you want to go to the trouble.

Regarding the volt meter - a long quote form the owners manual
" The Battery Condition Tester has a switch which operates a meter indicating : Good condition at 12-13 volts, fair at 11-12 volts and bad at 10-11 volts. (This meter does not indicate true battery condition while you are hooked-up to 120 volt city power. When it shows bad condition, you should take every reasonable step to conserve power by using as few lights as possible and switching of appliances."

Hope that helps....

1969 Overlander International Clock

Took the above face plate with the clock and the barometer to a clock repair man on 16th & Montana in Santa Monica, CA. He said there were two notches which I was calling 2 rivets from the back that the clock face twisted off of. He said it was not easy as it had sort of frozen in place and he used something to loosen the rust. So he put a new mechanism on the back and charged me $28. He also tried to work on the barometer, cleaning the rust as best he could and it seems to be waking up......it said the weather was "changing" when I picked it up and it was cloudy and raining outside.....I am so excited to have my clock working. Thank you for your help.
