6V Batteries & Existing Cables
I am considering switching to 6V Golf Cart Batteries for our 25FC. Can the existing cables be used (wired correctly of course)?

I used them on our 25 but it was a rear bedroom. I did have to undo one or two of the cable clamps in order to reach. Also, the center hold down clamp will have to be modified or removed. Otherwise, no problem.

Hi
Just keep in mind that you will get *maybe* a 10% increase in battery capacity. Just as with 12V batteries, not all 6V are "good stuff" so make and model do matter as well.

You will need to extend the height of the battery compartment. I used some aluminum C channel I bought at Grainger Supply.
Not sure where the 10% figure comes from. Factory setup gives you 80 usable amps, 2 6v batteries will generally give you 110. Golf cart batteries will discharge slower than stock batteries.
We rarely ever ran our batteries down past 90% everyday.

Hi
If you can fit in Trojan T-105's you can also do group 27's. Group 27's will get you to 100AH per battery / 200 AH for the pair. The stack of T-105's at 220AH each gives you 220AH vs the 100 from the group 27's.
If you go T-105's you *do* want the Trojan brand name on them. Indeed they make batteries for others so you might get the same thing with a different label. You also could get some weird brand that does not do very well.....

Our model is a 2017, I believe the battery box is tall enough. Any pros and cons..6v vs Group 27s?

Hi
If you get Trojan brand T-105's with recent dates, you will get about 10% more capacity than with group 27 AGM's. They are flooded cells. You will have to watch the water level. AGM's aren't cheap .....If you go with AGM's get a good brand ...
