50 amp to 30 amp only service

I am unfortunately am newbie to AS, we are taking delivery of a 27 fb signature, with 2 ac's and 50 amp svs. I know you can only run one ac at a time if only 30 amp is avail, but could you plug into two thirty amp plugs and pigtail both 30's into the 50 amp line and run both ac's? Or have a solution to offer.? Trying to learn as much as possible prior to walk thru. Also is the top of our 2013 rig going to have the white aluminum paint? THANKS

Even if you could do it, good luck finding a campground that has dual 30-amp receptacles on the pedestal.

You can with one of these:

Assuming you can find a place to plug it into.

As said it can be done but if there is a second 30amp in most cases it's for the next site, so you may not be aloud to do it.

You might be able to use the splitter listed above, plug one side into the 30 Amp, and then the other to plug into the 15 amp house style plug outlet. I would have some kind of volt meter handy to make sure your getting enough volts.

My worry about doing this would be if the pedestal was wired wrong, or if the 15 amp and 30 amp are tied together. Etc...

Not likely to work as the park's system should be GFI protected and plugging into them both will cause the GFI to trip.

I am not aware of any 30 or 50 amp systems in RV parks or campgrounds that are GFI protected.

It will be easier to transition at the trailer side connector from a 50amp plug to a 30 amp plug at the end of the cord.

Many folks run the A/C unit in the opposite end of the trailer so they can hear in the end in which they are sitting. Then 30 amp service would be just adequate.

Yes run the ac in the other end and use a fan to move air all over. I use a tower oscillating fan for this purpose. Jim

Welcome, you will learn that so many people here know so much about so many things. We have a 27FB with two airs. We have been in some extremely hot weather and never needed more than one air at a time. We run the air that is further away from us. Keeps us cool and not to loud.

Thanks all for the info. Spoke to an electrician and he said "bad idea"
Have camped out a few times now and two airs are nice in 102 Texas weather. The main cabin cycles on an off nicely when Tem is hit. And have alternated Ac units on 30 amp with no prob. Now if I could solve the condensation water drops on main unit all would be good. I'm sure it's a science thing.

On a similar but different note...Is it possible/safe to split a 50 amp/240 volt source into two 30 amp 120 volt outlets? We just had a rally at a fairgrounds where this would have been useful.

Yes, it is possible to split a 50 into two 30s. I have seen it done. The guy built the adapter himself. I would think you could buy one ready made.
