30 amp front electrical receptacle fails

A couple of times I have lost AC power when connected to shore power through the front 30 amp (generator) input receptacle on my 2012 Intl 25FB. No breakers trip, and I can restore power by moving the cord to the rear (normal) 30A input.

I can get power restored through the front input several hours later, but not if I just disconnect and reconnect immediately.

Any idea what's going on??? Is this a "feature", something I can prevent or something that needs to be fixed?

I had only the air conditioner on, all other appliances were on gas.

Thanks!

You have one of these.

It's a relay that will switch your power input from the front generator input when one is plugged in, with priority given to shore power if it is connected. Nothing but a big relay. Sounds like yours is failing. In my rig it's fastened right to the back of my power distribution panel (where the circuit breakers and fuses are). I'm not sure how you would check it, but they are easily available.

I would just use the normal shore power input if it works without problems

Thanks! I didn't know what to search for in the forum to find previous posts for this problem. I'll be giving AS a call to see if I can get a service appointment.

I just had the transfer switch replaced under warranty as I was passing through OH at the factory service center. So far so good. Les at the factory did a great job fixing a few odds and ends for me.

FYI - the manufacturer warranties the part for 2 years if you are past the AS warranty period.
