2005 Safari Electrical Service

Hi all, we are looking at a 2005 Safari (31' W/Bunks) that has a single A/C. As we live in Houston, (2) A/Cs are mandatory.

My question is: Do 2005s typically have 50A Main Service, or 30A?

The reason I ask is to consider the ease of adding an A/C.

Just look at the service cord. If it has 3 prongs it is 30 amp. If 4 it is 50 amp.
I doubt it is 50 but if you luck out then look at the breaker panel and see if there are any unused slots in the panel. If you are real lucky and remove the panel cover there may be an unused wire, prewaired for a second AC.

Now all that optimism aside wiring for a second AC is not going to be easy. In fact close to impossible within economic reasons.

If the trailer currently only has one AC on the roof it's 99.999% likely that you only have 30 amp service. The trailer can be upgraded to 50 amp service. Doing it properly can be an expensive proposition. However, there are a number of people on the Forum who have "converted" their trailers from 30 amp to 50 amp using one of several DIY approaches. I have no idea if any of these are safe or up to code, but if you use the "search function" looking for 30 to 50 amp conversion you should be able to find the threads where this is discussed.
