1971 Tradewind Help!!

What do guys recommend for updating the univolt? I am looking to purchase the PowerMax PM4B-45 (45 Amp 4-Stage Converter/Charger).

Is this a good move?

Will it be sufficient enough?

To much? To little?

For those of you that installed one, any pointers or things to look out for?

Don't know what to do.....

Thanks

Are you planning to keep the rest of the electrical system as it was? Whether you are or not, make a list of the 12V equipment you expect to run, figure out how much current each will use, and add it all up. If you're planning to replace the light fixtures with LEDs then that will likely reduce the overall load requirement, but adding a bunch of 12V to USB charging ports would push the load higher.

If you're looking to replace the fuse panel, then you should figure out a logical grouping of loads (maybe more than the four that my Univolt had) so that you are unlikely to blow fuses simply from momentary higher loads such as a fan starting.

Once you determine your needs, give Randy a call at Bestconverter.com He has provided guidance to many on this forum.

+1 to Randy and the gang at Bestconverter. I haven't yet decided on the overall electrical setup that we will use on our Tradewind but I did get a replacement/upgrade for the Parallax battery toaster that was in our SOB white box, from Bestconverter. Good price, fast shipping, and the right product for what we needed.
