Jim and I discoverd that PO's redid the switch and ran the exhaust fan only on AC current. They intalled a 110 switch. The 12 volt wiring was unhooked. We tried to make the motor run on 12 volt but it would not.

Jim (Jim and Susan) did figure out all the DC and AC wiring.

I want to change out the stove fan motor on my 1960 and would like some suggestions for a 12 volt that will fit and do the job.

12 volt motor might be kind of tough to find, most of those big square stove vents went 120 volt, and could be found in mobile homes across the country. You might be able to adapt one of the 12 volt roof vent motors into the housing, they and the fan blades for them are still available.

Terry is correct (as always!!)

On our '61 Overlander we replaced the stove vent fan motor with a 12v ceiling vent motor we purchased from InlandRV . Here's the link to the motor.

Inland RV Center Inc.

We had to modify the shaft (and maybe how it mounts, can't remember) so the old fan blade would work. A coworker did the modification, I can get the details if you need them. The new motor works great! We just turn the city power/batter power switch to battery power(12v).

This is probably what I'll end up doing. I'll just pickup a 12v ceiling vent motor and retrofit it in the 110v fan housing.

Thanks for the information. I think I have a couple of those motors in the shed. I changed out my 1973 fans with fantastic fans and kept the motors. Mike the motor you posted looks like what I have.
