12v without batteries
I'm doing a full renovation and would like to test the 12v lights as I install them. The electrical system is not hooked up yet and I don't have the batteries yet. Is there a way to test the 12v system without batteries? I'm pretty sure I know the answer to that, but just want to throw it out there.
I have the converter, panel, and old batteries (which I have not tested).
Thanks,
Ryan

The converter provides 12vdc if you have AC power to it and have it connected. It does not care about the batteries.

You need to have an operating converter if you want to test the interior 12v

If you just want to test parts as you go along the repair route, Get some spare wire and make a jumper from any old 12 volt battery that holds any charge. I bet you have one under a hood someplace.

If you have a battery charger you can use it to test most all 12V stuff like lights and pumps.

Thanks!
I bought a 'Progressive Dynamics (PD9260C) 60 Amp Power Converter with Charge Wizard' on Amazon. It has a built in charger, sounds like I should be good power up and test pumps and lights.
On a side note, does anyone have a good wiring diagram for connecting up shore power to a 110v/12v combo panel? It's my understanding that it's best practice to NOT terminate the negative 12v and 110v neutral on the same bus. Looking for any other advise from you pros!
check out the build at https://www.instagram.com/mcstreamytheairstream/
Thanks,
Ryan

12v without batteries
I know enough to confirm that you absolutely do NOT share a negative bus between 12v and 110v systems. They should be installed in an isolated manner.
Your build looks cool. You are pretty brave relying on what appears to be red guard on top of regular plywood for waterproofing the backside of the shower though! You should seriously consider using Schluter Kerdi mat at a minimum if you don't have cement board throughout.

Like a lot of Airstream questions the answer is depends. Depends on if the 12v system is wired from converter to battery to 12v or from converter to 12v to battery

I have an original 1975 631 page Airstream Service Manual, that includes electrical and everything else, I would like to sell. Send me a PM if you are interested.

Thanks!
We actually did a few coats of redgard on plywood then 1/4" cement board with about 5 coats of redgard on the cement board. That picture was posted before it was done.
