I use a CPAP and I tried the inverter even bought a new deep cell battery but my inverter would kick out. I even bought another inverter. I called my health care provider and asked about buying a 12 volt CPAP, but they told me I had to do a complete sleep study again. The cost with my deductible was to high for me. I boon dock on my own property so I use a generator to provide electricity.

Have folks here considered dental appliances for apnea? I had a sleep test done and do indeed have apnea. I got a custom dental device from my dentist that pushes my lower jaw forward and keeps my airway open - no mask, no power required. Not covered by insurance but the very first morning after using the device I felt like a new man! Insurance also won't cover a second sleep test WITH the device to confirm what I think is happening - but I might pay for that out of pocket too just to be sure it isn't in my head.

Might be worth a talk with your doctor?

One of our unit members (now since passed) had one of these, too. It looked like a great solution. I assume there are differences between people, requiring one solution over another, but perhaps not. <cynical mode on>The CPAP solution likely makes the medical establishment a lot more money.</cynical>
