12V dead ends.. '69 Overlander

Hi Air

i have a few 12vdc dead ends in my trailer

i hope someone can help me...

first i have a few questions:

i dont have a battery at the moment, is't a problem to run only from the univolt ? i think it has dried (over charged) my battery, it's dead.
without load i can read 16volt and if i turn on just one lamp it drops to 8,7 volt.
so i might need a new univolt...


i have a light switch just inside the door, is it for the middle ceiling lamp ?

there is also another light switch in the front end i think it's for the little outdoor lamp ?

i dont have power to these 2 lamps. i have checked the fuse panel in the rear and all fuses are OK.

can someone tell where these wires are comming from ?
there are only 4 red wires in the front "control center" so i think there must be a 12v junctionbox to look for ?


the 12v cigarette connector a the TV table, dont have power either, but i located the wires (red+white) at the front (control center) and they are NOT connected, which terminal should i connect them to, the white is easy, but the 12v+(red) should go to ? i could just place it together with one of the other 4 red wires, but i just want to do right.. see att. pic.
in the same box the is another connecter, is it for the antenna or is't also a 12vdc outlet ?


and at the fuse panel in the rear i found 2 fuses with the white wire, ground, can someone explane ? one goes to univolt and one to trailer ground ?

and the 2 upper fuses are connected with 2 grey small wires, i does not look original, and some confirm ?

Univolts are infamous for frying batteries. They should put out between 13 and 14 volts. Don't know if something is wrong with the Univolt but replace with a 3 stage inverter. If the battery is not there funny things can happen to the 12 v system.

The light next to the door is for the galley light. The light switch in the front end is for the outdoor light. The red wires coming out of the control panel may be for the water pump.

Those 2 grey 12 volt wires are not original. The cigarette lighter is not it is a 12v outlet. Plugging in cigarette lighter will blow fuses or melt wires.

You need a wiring diagram. Problem is a service manuals start in 72. But they should be similar.

The battery acts as a filter and regulator for the Univolt.

The voltage will go up,without a battery in the circuit.

That in turn, will make light bulbs burn out rather quickly.

The fuse in the ground wire is correct. It is in that circuit, in case someone installs the battery wiring backwards.

Airstreams use a 12 volt outlet, not a cigarette lighter outlet.

There are some automotive circuit breakers near the red wires on the control panel. I had some lights on the 69 that didn't work and the problem was one of the circuit breakers.
