Thumbs up Pictures are up...

I just posted the Pics of her condition when we picked her up.

http://www.airforums.com/photos/showimage.php?i=14721&catid=member&imageuser=19390

You can see that all of the interior (along items that aren't A/S related) is piled up on the inside. We have gotten her home and have emptied her out. I will take and post those pictures when I can.

Has anyone mentioned that this is VERY CLOSE to the town of Shiner....home of Shiner Beer?....AND.....alas, close to La Grange...home of the "Chicken Ranch". Ahhhhhhh, those Texas traditions.

A tour of the brewery at Shiner is on the rally agenda. I have toured there before, but I'll willingly go back for more beer!

Wow, that's lots of stuff in there. You have your work cut out for you. There is lots of potential to put your own personality into it and make it a showpiece. Keep us posted.

At least you have some templates for some of the cupboards if you decide to do it in a similar fashion. A walk through a new 16 foot Bambi might give you some great ideas. The important thing is to have the body and that you have. After that you can do anything you need to it to make it your own style. I look forward to seeing the pictures as you progress. Bambi's are great trailers.

That looks a little intimidating to look at, but a lot of the work in removing all if the fixtures has been done for you. You have a lot of work ahead of you, but a great project with potential.
Welcome to the forums, there are lots of people here who have been down your road before. Good luck, thanks for the photos.

Robbve, You might want to take a peak in at the February photo contest thread....There's a real nice pic of a 63' Bambi in there. Might give you a little incentive as to what kind of beauty your stream will become. Good luck with your restore...

Oh my! Just saw the pix. Good luck, and have fun. The rewards of doing it, will make it well worth the effort.

Welcome to the forums!

My hubby (NorCal Bambi) said "hello" a while back. We just love our 63 Bambi, it is soooooooo much fun! We had to work hard to get all of our interior out so we could re-do ours... you are ahead of the game! If you have questions, just check out my husband's thread on "Floor Replacement 63 Bambi"... several items may be similar, but then others will not. It is worth it!!!!!

Well, It has been over 2.5 years since I made my first and last Post! I swear that I haven't given up, but I have had two Babies since I aquired our Bambi and it has been slow going!

I have not been completely dormant; I have managed to remove the shell and belly pan and have begun to start on the frame. I will post pictures soon. Now that I am starting back on the project, I have some questions. This may not be the best threat to ask, but I thought that I would start here.

The original interior is mostly shot or missing. So I am thinking about reconfiguring the interior. This would include moving the wet bath and adding a grey/black tank under the floor. My initial thought is to reconfigure like a new Bambi with a rear bed, mid-bath and dinette in the front. Any thoughts? What about the waste plumbing?? Can I purchase the bath fiberglass and walls and holding tank from Airstream for a new bambi and retrofit them into my '61?

Please comment and keep me sane!
