Ha! That's a hoot. Good come-back! We bought an AS because we not only felt it was the best on the market (after owning a SOB motorhome), but because of the classic, aerodynamic design, historical presence, and she shear sense of joy we have in owning and camping in one!

Those that don't understand it never will.

All things aluminum!

I have started to reply to this one several times and have deleted the response for various reasons. I guess I will just note that this comment says more about the speaker than the subject.

Sorry about that. I mean that the comment says more about the psychiatrist than it does about you or airstream owners in general. Hope that clears it up.

I was gonna say, narcissistic I'm not......sarcastic definitely, but I don't need to look in the mirror to know I'm good looking!

Thus, the eclipse we are about to be treated to tonight has nothing to do with our owning Airstreams after all?

I must admit to being somewhat disappointed. I thought it was all because the worlds revolved around our earthbound space ships.

First I bought one that was 48 years old. Then bought one that was 35 years old. Now looking for one that's from the early 60's. I can not explain it, I am sure they have support groups to help me control this, but wait I think I am logged on to one now, but it just makes me want to keep collecting them. Love/Hate might apply but love them more than hate them. I want to take them everywhere. pretty sure after getting my next one I will stop buying them. Just wish I could figure a way to tow more than one at a time. I think I have enough room for about 20 more here. Wait .........the Flying Cloud is telling me to go camping next month.

My dad flew C-47's over in China/Burma during WWII. I always thought they were neat looking planes. When I flew with my parents in the late 50's early 60's, it was in a DC3 from Trans World Airways (TWA) or Trans Texas Airways (TTA also known as Tree Top Airways). Those shiny silver airplanes really caught my eye and the vibration of the turbo props really made me grip the arms of my seat on takeoff. I guess I'm showing my age. Somehow the affection for the C-47 and DC3 transferred to the Airstream because of, you know, a plane with no wings or tail. It just has a neat shape and tows much better as it slices through the air.

If you ignore all the arguments regarding style & history, which would you rather have:

-a trailer designed along the same lines as an aircraft, or

-a trailer designed as a tin walled and roofed shack with wood framing?

Please keep in mind... must me able to withstand up to hurricane force winds while under tow.

Enough said.
