Congratulations! I am happy for you as I know you have been looking for a while as well. I am also happy for me 'cause now I got another 1970 Overlander being fixed up and I am looking forward to your pictures.

BTW - I think that Overlander is considered a 27 footer but then what is a foot or so among friends.

I'm a newbie at this AS stuff but we just plugged into 110 and the univolt system kicked on and we tried all the 12volt stuff. Then we got a key from Vhord, he's a nice guy on this forum, and opened the battery box and found.......NO BATTERY! SO I guess the 12 volt stuff will run off the univolt if need be. Beat me, like I said total newbie.

I keep getting rained out... and THIS is this stupid question of the week...

WHERE do it 'plug in'...

I can't find a hot connector anywhere! some I have known you had to use a special 'pigtail' to convert plug to plug... I did find an odd male cord, but seems kinda light for that.

any idees???

Many early 70's/late 60's Overlanders and other long trailers had the battery in a compartment above the rear bumper.
My 1971 TradeWind had it's battery under the bed.

See if there is a black cord inside the bumper compartment. It should have a 3-prong RV style connector on it, which will not fit into a standard receptacle. An adapter is required to plug it into a household receptacle. Do not run the A/C when using this adaptor, the lack of current might damage your a/c's motor.

You can run the a/c with a dedicated 30A circuit.
The adapter makes it possible to plug into household outlets that will provide enough power for you to run lights, 120V trailer outlets, univolt, etc. It's enough to test all systems but the a/c.
The adapter won't allow enough power flow for the compressor motor to start up, at least in most cases. It might even blow a 15 or 20A circuit if you try it. It is rated for 15A only. There's a reason that campground receptacles have single phase, 120V, 30A fused outlets. You won't find that in residential applications.

this old dog is semi-permanently setup next to my pumphouse which DOES have a good 30A (or more) circuit. Any reason I can just re-end the cord with a heavy duty standard plug and plug into the pumphouse?

I can temporarily disable the pump while the AC runs as I am the onlyest one here.

Uwe-- do you know what the failure mode is if you attempt to start an AC using this adapter plugged into your residential power outlet? Does it simply not turn on, or will it turn on but not run correctly? Or perhaps it might do either of those things depending on circumstances?

OK Gang.. after an hour today at the locksmith watching a (very competent), kid manually cut me a new key for the Bargman lock I had loose I got IN to the bumper compartment.. THAT IS INDEED where the battery goes, but I have yet to find the Univolt.

I have a few gelpack sealed deepcylce batteries around here and will be adding the 2nd one for depth as well as a trickle charger. I have to WONDER though at putting al that electrical UNDER the bath and on TOP of what looks like most of the water connections..

Welcome to the forums and to Airstream ownership. On my 1970 Sovereign, the battery was moved to the rearmost curbside compartment.
The Univolt inverter is also there. Look to your left when you stick your head in the compartment. Don't know if that is where yours is, but you can try. If that fails, try following wires....
