We're New
Hi all we are Anna&Steve from New York we currently own a Camp Inn Teardrop Trailer that we love but we think it's time for something a little bigger. We are looking for info on a 16' Sport, likes and dislikes. We are also looking for a new tow vehicle probably a Chevy Traverse.

Neat looking unit and quite the step up from a teardrop so you should be happy. Might want to consider slightly used as you will save some cash and someone else will have gotten all the "teething problems" taken care of.
Looks up the specs for the Sport 16 at the Airstream website and then check out the towing capabilities of the Traverse. It should work fine.
Act fast! The summer awaits...

hello, from upstate NY, Shawn and Becky lyons from Amsterdam, NY near Albany. we are newbies to AS as well..we just purchased a 1978 international ambassador 28ft. from Nomad Airstream in Plattsburgh (every north NY). Nomad just became a new Airstream dealer and is now selling new. This saturday we are taking our camper and meeting Nomad at the Saratoga Auto Museum for their annual spring car show. Nomad will be a vendor there. Would be a nice ride for the day to a great place called Saratoga NY.

Shawn & Becky,
Welcome Aboard....
Hope Nomad sticks around, NY hasn't had an Airstream dealer since ours closed in 2004....good luck to them.
DW is from Poland NY, we know the area well. Spend many happy times in the, Piseco Lake, Speculator area.
Our Classic.... "Tahawus" the Cloudsplitter.

Greetings from North Florida and welcome to the forums, Anna & Steve. I like the 16' Airstream Sport from what I've seen, though I don't know much about it. We had looked at the Bambi 19', but ended up buying bigger (for retirement). Like someone else mentioned, depending on your financial situation, perhaps you could look for a used one and save some money. We found ours on the forums classified.

Welcome to the world of Airstreams.
CampInns are very nice a very nice teardrop. I see why you want an Airstream.
I recommend going used. Mainly to try it out and see how you like the layout and size. There is a very nice 77 Tradewind locally available. Pm me if you might be interested or call me at 434-401-4060.
Good luck with your search.

Thoughts on the 16 foot Sport
We are newbies. We had talked for some time about an RV, first a small motorhome, then I saw a small Airstream and thought this would be a reasonable option. We could use our SUV as a tow vehicle and not need a dedicated TV. Our first trip to look at A/S's was to Seattle. A long drive! They were all amazing! We found (from a new dealer in BC) a used 2012 in September of 2012 and are very happy with it. We have not used it a lot yet and one of the potential drawbacks is a smaller holding tank that goes with the smaller unit. Not the end of the world for us as we have done a fair amount of backpacking and canoe camping. In the Sport, we are warm, dry, and there is a shower, toilet and a fridge. Luxurious. We are towing with a 2012 Honda Pilot Touring model. It has the capacity to tow up to 4500 pounds but we were more comfortable with keeping the load at 3500 pounds. The Pilot does a great job of towing it. Acceleration is great, as is the breaking power. There is ample room for lots of stuff and our Scottie, Oliver.
Good luck with your search and keep us all posted.
