Weight Limit Questions

Hello, I am a complete newby to trailering although I have been RVing in our pickup camper for several years. My question is that I own a Chevy 2002 Silverado 1500 4 x 4. I want to switch to a trailer and my understanding is that Airstreams are good quality. We typically travel between Washington State and Baja Mexico (Los Barriles) and I am wondering what size Airstream my pickup truck is capable of comfortably towing the 2300 miles? Any help is appreciated.

I'm sure you can tow at least a smaller AS with a 6 cyl. To tow a larger AS you will need an 8. What is the engine type/size. How your Chevy tows also depends a lot on the rear end gear ratio.

With a V-8 you should be able to tow a late model 25' Airstream or smaller. Vintage Airstreams are somewhat lighter per foot than the recent models.

Why all the guessing? Check your vehicle's GVWR it's listed on your vehicles sticker. Then you will know what size you can pull. Just have to find the weight of the trailer your considering.
