Thumbs up We got our new Sport 22 FB

We picked up our 2010 Sport 22 FB Friday from Woodland RV in Grand Rapids Mi. What a pleasant experience it was, Chad spent 3.5 hours going over everything with us. He even had us drive on the road with him so we could get some experience before turning us loose on our own. I do not know how other Airstream dealers are but Woodland really seemed to care that we were happy and well informed before we left the lot.

Congratulations! Those are nice trailers - I like what Airstream has done with the 22' Sport over the years.

Congratulations. It is always nice to hear of a positive experience like yours. Maybe we'll cross paths in the UP some time.

Hey Castaway........You are right.......Woodland in Grand Rapids is the BEST.........they are a family run business who "really care" for their customers.

Congratulations

Castaway: I agree with Blmitch, that is a very nice floor plan. I looked at it and the 360 view at Airstream.com. I think that in the future you will come to appreciate it even more, especially the bed location. One bit of advice from one who knows...watch out for "Captain Hook" (the bathroom door latch handle), he'll grab you belt loops.

Good Luck, Randy Bowman

Congrats, that's a cool Airstream. I like the design of having a lighter, narrower 'stream. Does your Sport have a bumper? That's the only thing I didn't like about this design when it first came out.

Hi Gary, nice unit , I just got the Airstream bug , and found this site , your 22 is just the right size for touring Did you consider a 19 ft ? I am considering one now and just wondering any thoughts ? Did you look at that size?

Our first trailer was the 19. Get the 22.

Actually the wise thing to do is to get into both of them and make sure you comfortably fit on the bed. On the throne and the living area is right for cooking, eating and lazing around. Lots of sizes and floor plans so don't settle.

We'll look for you around the campfire.

Castaway,

Congrats! My wife and I bought a Sport 22 from Woodland and took delivery in April... We absolutely LOVE it! I'm sure you'll be very happy with your decision. It's a great boon docking trailer if you outfit with dual batteries, a 2000 watt generator, and a few 7-gallon water containers.

No bumper, but I don't think that should be a problem

LABC: we looked at the 19 ft Flying Cloud but could not justify the
extra $$ for the upgrade plus losing 3 ft of cabin space

Congrats! Mary and I got a hold-over 2009 Flying Cloud 23FB in April this year. It still had the plastic on the ceiling and bedding. If we didn't get it for a great price, we'd have gone with the Sport also. We are so excited about it, we get out nearly every weekend! We use it as a base or fly fishing and touring the Big Horns and Black Hills.

Hi,
We are seriously considering the Sport 22FB. How do you like it after using it a while? Also how was the 2 battery upgrade done...had the dealer look at putting solar panel on it and they said they could upgrade the battery but not room for 2...
Thanks,
Tony

Tony,

Our dealer unbolted the battery & lifted it out of the frame, turned it 90 degrees and placed another battery beside it. It's tight but it fits! It sits sideways on top of the battery rails and they placed a piece of wood underneath for support. I'll try to take a photo tomorrow and send it to you.

You'll love the Sport 22. We considered solar, but we found so many uses for the generator besides just the AirStream that we decided to go that route. Plus, we never stay in one place for long, so our truck keeps it well charged and we haven't even needed the generator yet!

If you buy a generator, I would recommend the Honda 2000i Companion series. With an adapter, you can plug it right into the 30 amp cord on your trailer and it will run EVERYTHING but the A/C unit.

We have only stayed in our AS for 3 nights so far, but loved every minute of it. The only lingering problem is the noisy fresh water pump(I am still trying to quiet it). We only have one battery but we do not plan on much off the grid camping

Gary Congrats on the 22 ft Sport. I did not succeed in buying from Woodland. But I can relate a good experience with them. I emailed them about a unit several yrs ago. They said they had it and would be glad to show it that weekend. On Friday I got a call from the salesman (dont remember his name) he said Please dont come, we lost the keys and are not able to show the unit. Thus saving me a trip all the way from Ohio.
Nice people. They were thinkin of the customer.
Now we know where you are Please feel free to join in any of activities here with us in Ohio. There are a few of us that camp together occasionally. I think the next is a buddy rally at WP and the Museum of the United States Air force in Oct. Check the left hand pane for the Dates.
Welcome to AirForums

Tony,

It's well worth it! Definitely a very inexpensive mod that you will be very happy with... Good Luck!
