We Call it the Flying Honu
I bought a 2014 Flying Cloud 25-ft. FB in December, in Seattle, after admiring them for years and years. My daughter and son-in-law finally convinced me that I (female! retired! a grandmother!)could learn to drive and maneuver it, and though it seemed intimidating at first, I indeed have begun to learn these skills and have come to love taking our Flying Honu (Hawaiian for green sea turtle) out on adventures!
We have taken 4 trips since then, 3 of them with various configurations of family and one, my first "solo" trip, with friends. We went to Yellowstone from Seattle with 10 family members (not all of whom slept in the Airstream!) and then to Glacier National Park, again from Seattle, with two friends from Hawai'i in September, driving through a freakishly early snowstorm in Wyoming en route to the East side of the Park....and not a single problem with the Airstream!
I am still continuing to learn but loving every minute of it, from backing it in to the camping site to dumping the waters! I eagerly anticipate the next trips, including a hoped-for excursion to Alaska in 2015. Taking the leap has been so worth it!!
Looking forward to meeting and learning from all of you!
