Wanted 16 or 19 bambi 75th? Quicksilver?

Hello, my name is Blake Sandman. My grandfather had restored many airstreams in the late 1960's and early 1970's. I am 36 years old and I live in central Indiana. I would love to purchase a pre-owned Airstream. I have a wife and 3 children. My grandfather passed away from cancer when I was 16, and I have always admired him and his love for the "Classic Airstream"

Thanks for listening, and let me know if someone can get me started.

Blake L. Sandman

Please check EBay and www.craigslist.com in your area. That's where I found my 1969 Caravel on craigslist.com.

Good luck and may the memories of your grandfather live on.

Hi Blake Welcome to the forums.. Thank you for sharing your story... I love the 75th anniv Bambi but for practical purposes do you really want to jam a family of 5 in there for camping? We love our 30' Safari Bunk we have one child and one on the way and it gives us plenty of room to spare. I'd encourage you to spend some time in a '16 or '19 Bambi with the entire family before spending $35,000. I think you'll find it to be a bit tight on a rainy camping day. Use the search function and ask questions to answers never found, this community is a wealth of knowledge.. Good Luck AZstreamin

Hello Blake! Welcome to the Forums!! Any time you spend here cruising the main portal page will give you ideas of how to proceed.

Craigslist has gotten some mention recently. I would suggest getting ideas of content on the Classifieds here. Other classifieds are also at VAC. www.airstream.com even has a classifieds section although I can't say much about that. What I can say is 'watch out' for ebay -- just read any ebay thread here and it usually pertains to hard luck trailers or buyers getting burned -- especially frauds that surround any presumed newer units! The '75th' in your thread title suggests you'd be interested in a much newer unit since the 2006 models were the 75th anniversary (2007s have been out for something over a month now). There probably isn't much turnover for 'used' in that category. Bambi size of anything is in high demand.

There are a lot of options here, there and elsewhere. Hang around, ask & listen, and you'll be happy to buy when you've studied the field.

I apologize -- the above link for the VAC (Vintage Airstream Club) has been corrected.
