Vancouver Island retired

We bought a 1974 29 foot in 1987 and took our 2 girls to 8 provinces and 20 states. As a result, we are all living on Vancouver Island, our girls have spouses from the island and we have one grandchild.

I need advice on switching to a lithium battery, with solar panels which we can put on the ground and deploy with a generator. We live under trees, and so the plan is to use the system in our house during winter as a backup, then move it to the AS when we camp. We always need a generator as a backup as snow and trees lead to 2-4 blackouts per winter.
Thus, no roof mounting as most of the time we are under trees.

We would be happy to give advice to any AS campers coming to the Island, it is rated as one of the best in North America by Conde Nast.
We were born where it gets to be 40 below, now we live where the ground doesn't freeze, so we travel to see sunny locations. We live at a lake so warm old people swim in it, and we have Hawaiian weather 6 months of the year.

Welcome to AirForums. Maybe you live in the most beautiful spot in North America? Someday we will pull our Airstream to Vancouver.

There are some Airstreamers that get very involved in their solar systems. I know Airstream Life / Store sells a "portable" panel that you can move to the sun and charge a battery given enough time. Building a large wattage solar system is beyond me. You can google search AirForums for solar systems and start reading what others have done.

I have a 75 Overlander 27'. Similar to your 74 Ambassador 29.
