Upcoming plans to make her livable
Well, it's the new year, and I've become re-inspired to work on the Argosy. Purchased from original owner in mid 2006, I lived in the trailer for about 10 months, but gave it up for lack of comfort (old foam in gaucho, broken fridge, broken heater - gas leak, missing curtains, etc.). But I've recently cleaned it up, picked out new curtains, I think I've found the material for new gaucho cover - will have new NASA foam, and am learning a lot about heaters.
Heater aside, I think most of my projects will be mostly cosmetic. The old side gaucho was removed and homemade cabinets built in in it's place. I know a lot of folks are pulling out gauchos, but I'm going to rebuild it. The pull-out in the front was pretty comfy (old foam aside) and seems very practical. Plus it will be nice for the trailer to sleep 4 again. This will be my "bedroom" when I get it completed and move back in - plus will still have sitting room up front on second pull-out. Previous owners also did a DIY job on counter tops - obviously a Home Depot purchase, as the counter fits poorly. This will be another upcoming task. Thanks to all those who have pics online for me to look at what original counter tops and gauchos look like. Heater will likely be replaced while counters are off and stove is out - seems like the easiest way to get to the heater. Curtains and upholstery will be quick to follow. Goin' for a 70's look, to keep with the style of the trailer.
I look forward to hearing from other members and getting feedback as I move along. Hopefully by this time next year, my address will be ARGOSY!
