TX Newbie 70 Ambassador

First of all, thank you to all who take the time to share their knowledge at this site. You gave me confidence and helped me to step into a totally new world. We are blessed with rain in TX today, which has allowed me to discover 3 leaks on my 70 Ambassador. Therefore, I will close for now to search out the solutions for stopping the leaks.

Find those leaks and patch them with 'clear' LEXEL caulking. Stay with us and leaks or not- we're all in this together.....

The leaks are slowing down

I am still here. The antenna leak is gone, I removed the old antenna and patched with alum circle. Used Vulkem to seal and rivets to hold in place. My first reivet job. Two vista windows are now cleaned and sealed with Vulkem on top side and ParrBond on the sides. I hope my AC leak is solved. Found 3 holes drilled in outer skin when compressor mounting plate was installed. When enough rain collected on AC deck, it would run into the holes. I am also repalcing weather stripping as I go and using the D shaped product sold by Island RV. Had a tough time removing the dreaded flat snap ring on window pivot arm.

Yeah, that little 'itty'-bitty-tiny-einie-wiennie-little (%#@) We replaced a window not too long ago and that little ring took forever to get off!

Round two with the AC leak

With 5' of rain, I discovered the AC area still leaked. Water weeps in on the edges of the compressor mounting plate that is itself mounted to the AC deck. I cleaned up PO attempt to seal the area and hit it hard with Vulkem. If I do not have the leak solved now I am in real trouble. My other leak is at the front window and it seems to be coming in the weep hole. Perhaps I have front end of trailer tilted up. Will search past forums for weep hole discussion.

I must have posted my reply incorrectly since I do not see it here. AC area leaked with 5" rain last week. I discovered the leak is on the sides of the compressor mounting plate that is mounted to the AC deck. Cleaned up PO attempt to stop leak and hit it hard with Vulkem. Will find out tomorrow if that solved the problem, if not I am in trouble. I will now search the forums for front window leak at weep hole. I may have front of trailer too high which allows water to run back in versus draining out.
