I have stopped there and would use it again as a stopover but not as a destination.

We've been there but not camped. We were at a rally in Hiawasse, GA and went to Helen for a visit. The people that worked (owned?) there were very nice and the rates were very cheap - I believe you have to be WBCCI member to stay - but call and ask first. Summer months are cramped - don't expect to get a site where you can open your awning - but off season they said there was alot of room. Many people store their campers there year round.
Power, water and sewage at each site with Wifi in the common area and maybe at the near sites. Very clean - but not very modern facilities.

Tog
We've camped at TOG twice in the last year and each time we met very friendly and helpful hosts and fellow campers. We became associate members this year when we stored our trailer for a few months for $2/day.
The part-time and full-time residents at TOG, as well as the proximity to many attractions in the area are the biggest draw. We were given a guided tour on a nature trail that begins at the campground and goes over the mountain. Our guide knew all the wildflowers. Helen is quite a trip, a Swiss theme-town, that you might be just as likely to love or hate. We found several interesting museums and craft and art shops in the area around Helen. And of course, do not forget hiking in the surrounding mountains.

This is not a resort, but a campground owned by the localWBCCI club. A niceplace to stay a night or longer. GOOD people, clean grounds, dog friendly, and only $7 a night to Wally members. zz

Been there, found folks overly strict on where the dog was walked even if he was just walking if you get my meaning...and my kids were not welcomed at all. Would not go back.

TOG and Kids
We are members at the Top of GA and just returned from the Labor Day Rally. Our 14 y.o. daughter is a regular and gets along well with the folks there. She is a regular at the card games. Our son is 16 and liked by the members, but he doesn't spend too much time with them.
We would love it if you would visit again. It isn't like a state park, but it is a great place to visit, for $7 a night (water, electric, sewer, cable and WiFi). The folks there are set in their ways, but very nice. There are rules for dogs, but I'm surprised to hear that your kids had issues.
The park is WBCCI only. You are welcome to join on arrival.
Looking forward to Falluminum in Hiawassee.

During the winter months you'll probably find that activity at TOG is scaled back and rules will be somewhat relaxed. We stopped last February and found a small core of friendly Streamers. Spaces with full hookups were available near to the clubhouse, even for pet families.
Stop and enjoy.

Top of Georgia
Been members for 5 years. We used to love it because of its proximity to home (57 miles). Unfortunately it has turned in to a trailer park with most premium sites occupied by full timers. Maybe things will change back after COVID-19 becomes history. They have also become lax in enforcing their park rules.

Pretty setting, nice enough folks, but what hasn’t been explicitly stated here is that there’s not really a shower house or restroom. You must be willing to rely on your own trailer for all sanitation. (At least that’s how it was when we visited in 2019)
