This is all new!

My boyfriend and I have a 2003 28' Safari SO, we are needing to remove the flooring and hopefully not the subfloor! We are new to all of this, we need to recover couch, new curtains, recover dinette cushions, area around dinette is stained, we need lots of advice! Like I said we are new don't even know how to use this blog! Lol
If you have a minute or an hour we could use all your expertise on the above restorations.
Thanks Airstreamers!

Your profile says you live in Texas. I am not that familiar with the state, so I cannot tell you how close you are to any Airstream campgrounds or WBCCI units. As newbies it would probably be very helpful to meet people who are long term owners and do ot yourselfers. At some point you have to get your hands dirty... but learning before leaping will save time, frustration, and redoing the same job twice.

Read everything you can here regarding restorations and do try to attend a rally or two. Hopefully your work will be mainly cosmetic... but knowing whether you have other problems before you cover a floor or frame problem is very helpful. Eliminating leaks is #1. With a slideout, it adds some complexity. Play with the SEARCH function.

Slide-Out Society

Welcome to the Forum and congratulations on your "new" slide-out trailer! Lot's of adventures and memories in the making. Sounds like a little bit of the labor of love first...

There's lot's of info, tips and tricks stored in the forum threads. Lot's of times the question may have already been asked and answered.

Your Slide-Out is unique in the AirStream world. AirStream production numbers over their 10 year run were around 617 give or take a few. Not only will folks being eyeballing your unit, they'll be curious about that Slide-Out. When camping we hear those questions all the time...

SeeMore in the prior post included a link to another thread on the forum for the Slide-Out Society Registry. That is the informal grouping of other AirStream Slide-Out Owners or what we call the Slide-Out Society (S/OS) for short. There are 84 other AS S/O owners in the group. That includes two owners of 2003 28' Safari S/O's.

You could be S/OS #085. Come and join us... Here's a link to the last post on the thread: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f366...159166-37.html

There are many posts about care and maintenance that others have done on their slide-outs that maybe helpful to you. And of course you get a direct line to other owners like yourself.

Wishing you all the best with your new S/O!
