The plan.

Hi all.
I've recently formulated my retirement plan (and its glorious if I do say so myself) and part of that plan...not the actual retirement, but the years running up to it, greatly involve an airstream.

Living in one full time actually.

I am happy to have found a forum on all things airstream, I am eager to learn from all of the wise 'streamin' sages here.

Welcome, O'Girl:

Enjoy your search for the right rig... I caution you, this will be a contagious undertaking - life changing potential! Living full-time in an AS as a retiree is also a target on my radar screen...

Welcome aboard...

re:The Plan

Thank You all for the welcome, your cautions and encouragements.

The plan wont go into effect for another 8 years, which gives me time to get to debt-free before I go on my journey.

The Plan is:
Once the kids are out of the house, buy a Bambi or similar Airstream and park it on property or by the ocean and either contract and work from home as a contractor OR commute from my 'home on wheels' for 5 years (both are feasible options).
Doing this will allow me to save between 50 and 70k per year.
Im not sure how I will enjoy living in a small space year round for 5 years, BUT since the plan afterward is to buy a small place in Italy to refurbish and retire to...the light at the end of the tunnel is glorious!

....and my home is mobile, so if the job moves, my home can move too...and if I get tired of one place I can just up and park it somewhere else with little issue.

Sounds like a good plan.
