The next adventure

My wife and I recently agreed . . . OK, that's not how it works; my wife recently let me buy a 2005 Land Yacht MH, 26', and now I need to make her feel good about it. She is retired and I am going to make that leap within the next few months, after which time we hope to spend time with our new grandchildren, who are about to move to the Phoenix area, and our son and his wife who live near Philly. Sandwiched between those destinations are countless adventures we hope to pursue, which includes meeting people who, like us, are trying to figure out what "living the dream" means, and how to do it. We welcome the prospect of getting to know those of you who are willing to let us into your lives, and become part of ours. Thank you. Russell and Lorraine

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us. We now have ten years of Airstreaming under our belts. We've got almost 1,800 nights out all over the country. We have had the greatest times of our lives.

Welcome to the Airstream community and the RV lifestyle. For many families, it seems like the children move far away chasing opportunities. We spent many years traveling from Minnesota to Colorado to visit our sons. Our Airstream served us well during these trips. It was a comfortable place where we could "hide out" and not be underfoot in the son's smaller homes.

Now that we have retired, we enjoy long trips in our Airstream. As they say in these forums, new adventures keeps us young. Traveling to different places and experiencing the "culture" of the area is great fun. You may like traveling on local state highways, visiting small towns and staying in local parks. Many do. The contributor in post #2 is a highly experienced Airstream traveler. I enjoy reading about their travel adventures.

You will find Air Forums a valuable resource for travel advice and problem solving. I do.

Welcome!
You will both come to love the freedom of retirement!

I retired in 2010, my wife a few years earlier than me. We've been gradually increasing our time in the Airstreams. It's taken my wife some time to "adapt" to living in the smaller mobile space. Now, since she has learned how fun it can be, she is as ready to be on the road as I am. In 2015 we were 5 months sleeping in our homes with wheels, ~4,000 miles towed. This year, if our plans hold, we will be sleeping in our trailers ~7 months, 7,000 miles towed.
