Thanks!

As level headed and focused as one can be, it's amazing just how quickly you can move when everything falls into place. My initial desire on coming up for air from "lurker below" status in the forums was to find a partially used Airstream, only a few years old, in good condition and ready to go.

Over time, I started to become despondent as the feature set I was looking for seemed to not be that popular - the age of the "FB" has come upon us with a vengeance - enough that my "local" dealer sells nothing but.

So two weeks ago I initiated a conversation with Paula, aka Foiled Again, regarding dealers in the mid-Atlantic area -- having given up on finding a slightly used model. She asked in some of our conversational threads why I wasn't looking at slightly used and I retorted the difficulty in finding what I was looking for...

... and less than 30 minutes later she found it for me.

Two weeks ago, I was planning on driving to a local dealer to start the process of negotiating a factory order.

Today I drove into a local RV storage lot with exactly what I want (with a few extras I didn't need but will gladly accept ).

Thanks to Paula for calming my nerves and guiding me through this. Thanks to Ford for building the F150 ecoboost which proved a champ on I-85 in the rain today. Thanks to PharmGeek who doesn't know it but over the past year whenever I had a question pop into my head, he apparently did so at the same time and asked the forums so I didn't have to. And thanks to the remainder of the forums who have always been professional, outgoing and welcoming with answers and suggestions to my musings and queries.

Congrats!

Is it just me, or did that bear move to get in every picture?

And judging from your avatar, you are affiliated with a barbershop quartet? I hope you travel with 3 other folks and that we end up at the same campsite from time to time! :-)

Happy camping!

Yes, the bear is Henri, a nocturnal fellow of Steiff origin. I do sing barbershop; mostly with the Alexandria Harmonizers Men's Chorus but do love to quartet when I get a chance. And yes, I will teach tags at campgrounds.

I started laughing the minute I spotted Henri.

My final advice to Ian on going to pick up his new Airstream was to take someone along who would help him keep calm on the trip back from NC. Suggestions included his dad - or a teddy bear. Henri really does look right at home.

Glad you got back safely in the rain and cold. I see a rally in the not too distant future. Somewhere on the middle peninsula? Highland Haven again? If Highland Haven, I strongly urge brunch at Chateau Morrisette - about 20 miles S.E. of Floyd JUST off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Best brunch I've had in 10 years - and wine in the morning is just So decadent.

Paula

Congratulations on your find, nice Airstream.

The F150 Ecoboost is a good tow vehicle.
