Post Thank you, Richard

I just wanted to introduce myself. I was encouraged to come to the Air Forums by a man named Richard, who evidently thinks pretty highly of this forum gathering. I'm looking forward to exploring and learning more about Airstreams in general, and renovating an Airstream for use as a mobile documentary production studio, specifically.

I am in the midst of a documentary film project on the Cherokee Trail of Tears. Specifically, I am training to paddle the TOT water route (1,400 miles from Tennessee to Oklahoma). I'll be on the road a great deal over the next 3 years and the thought of spending that time in an Airstream suits me just fine. I lived in an Airstream with my parents when I was a teenager, sleeping at night with a cage of guinea pigs by my head. I'd like to change that up quite a bit...

I'm currently located in North Carolina and doing research near and around the Cherokee reservation (Cherokee, NC). I'd love to meet others in this area who are interested in, and particularly knowledgeable about Airstreams and renovation resources.

Welcome to the forums!
I keep laughing at the idea of sleeping with guinea pigs next to me...
Very cool!

Welcome to the forums. I would agree with your friend Richard, this forum is a great resource. Best wishes in your search and restoration project. I've found that most any problem or question you run into, someone here has worked through it before. Sometimes, you may find many opinions on a topic, giving you options to choose.

Also, your Cherokee project sounds great.

Good luck,

Roy and Marie

Overlander,

No need to duck and cover. They weren't mine and I detested them. They were quite sexually active at night and it was hard to sleep. Guinea pigs are Cuy in Peru, and I hear they are very tasty. I couldn't bring myself to try it though. They looked gruesome on the BBQ.

Soooo.... Thank you everyone for your support and welcome! I've already found so much helpful information throughout this forum! It's amazing!

Those interested in my doc project can Google "Cryingbacktheocean" and that should lead you to the splash page and a link to the blog explaining the project, it's purpose and scope.

Is there anyone here around western North Carolina who I could connect with?

Also, I'm tentatively planning on attending Alumina 2015.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm seeing some North Carolinians here. Is there a NC AS group that meets somewhere in NC?
