Hi new friends,
Recently signed up and looking forward to recieving info on my recently purchased 20 ft. argosy motorhome (1975). I love camping with my family on the Great Wycomico River here in Va. My site is about 12 mins. by boat to the Cheasapeak Bay.Great fishing!I have a Pace Arrow there now and plan on commuting in the argosy.I am the fourth owner of this beauty having 90.000 miles and a well kept service log starting from day one.I had to look closely for the one dent that I found behind the driver side seat.Since the first owner ordered the vehicle factory painted there could be more.I plan on removing the paint down to the metal.Any suggertions before I get started?
Best wishes for the holidays,

Welcome to the forums!
Argosy trailer and motorhomes have galvanized steel front and rear upper end caps. ( The rounded upper body ends) I thought you might want to know that before you start. They will not match the aluminum in appearance. It is said that Airstream used lower grade ( paint grade?) aluminum to build the Argosy line of vehicles. I can not confirm this, though.
Just thought you might want to know before you get started.
Happy Holidays!
I have been told you cen buy the aluminum end caps from Airstream to replace the galvanised ones, but I have not been able to verify this. It is a lot of work, both stripping the paint properly, and polishing it when it is stripped, not to mention replacing the end caps.
An alternative would be getting the coach painted silver over the existing paint, this is what the original Airstream motor homes were.
Thanks for the valuable info.Would the silver paint be a Airstream product or available where paints are sold?

Regular automotive paint stores should be able to set you up, if you tell them what it is you are painting.
I have always liked the silver metallic that Mercedes Benz has used since the 1920's. It is very close to a real metal look. The Paint code is MB 735 ( Astral Silber) in case you want to take a look at it.
