Pink ----

If you look close at the pic of the front of the trailer, you'll see that it has a clugged up mod over the original battery. It's a plastic box on 'stilts' and holds 2 additional batteries. I talked to the seller about that and I don't know how it's wired into the trailer system, but it bothered me. Was told the trailer has made one trip to Alaska and back by the original owner.

Welcome

Welcome Pink!

From the photos it looks like a great trailer.

I'll keep my eyes open for it when it gets to the 'hood.

Yes, dents from the AlCan highway! What a badge of honor, I think it's cool. Is having three batteries good or bad?

3 batteries would be o.k. if you knew how they were wired, but this trailer came out of the factory with one wired into the system according to Airstreams spec sheet on their Website. Who put the other 2 on the trailer? Were they qualified electricians? Has the trailer charging system been modified to accomodate 2 more batteries? These are all questions that need REAL answers. The set-up might work 100%, but you should know how to operate it. It's not a standard AS.

Do you think the battery issue is a deal breaker? Could a regular electrician figure out the wiring and explain it to me?
If it was done by a drunkin sailor, could it be undone?

You sure bring up some great questions. thanks

To me it's not a deal-breaker, but I am not a "regular electrician".

I say that because "what man hath wrought" can always be undone for a normal hourly rate.

I would be tempted to undo the 2nd and 3rd batteries because they add weight to the tongue, which is where more is not better. And in any case, unless you plan to spend a lot of time boondocking (camping where you aren't plugged in) the two extra ones won't matter.

Not a catastrophe by any means, though.
