Soon to be Airstreamer

Hi All,

My name is Tom Han and I am looking to purchase one of these bad boys in coming weeks. We started looking since last year, but just couldn't pull the trigger last year due to this downbeat economy. Last year when we were looking, we liked the INTL 27FB, but after seeing the Flying cloud 28ft at our local RV show, my wife likes that one better. We will be going to the dealer this weekend to check it out. Having the living area in the back is more desirable(better view), but having the sofa and dinnette separate is also a plus. I have been following this forum for the past year and the knowledge gained was tremendous. I am married and we have a 4 yr old daughter. Being from CA, we have just too many places that we want to take the AS to(wife refuses to tent camp). Any pros or cons on the 28ft?

Hello Tom,

Welcome to the site and were glad to hear that your AS purchase appears to be near. While I can't answer your question there are many here who should be able to assist you with their experiences and opinions.

We know that purchasing your new AS will be a big decision so please don't hesitate to ask questions as you work your way through the selection process.

Regards,

Kevin

My only advice is to buy the trailer you really want and buy the smallest trailer that fits your family's needs. With the price of fuel, big trailers are heavier and a turn-off. Modern Airstreams are much heavier than vintange ones.

Soon to be no more. I just put down a deposit on 2011 28' int with yellowstone interior. I will be picking it up next Saturday the 17th. I am having them put up 220W solar and 1000W inverter at Toscano RV in Los Banos, CA. Can't wait. Only drawback about getting this thing in the middle of Summer is that all the State parks and Yosemite are already filled with reservations. California airstreamers, can you recommend some coastal places that are still available that I can still take mine to?

Tom

Hi Tom,
You just spent big bucks on a great Airstream including 220w solar and a 1000 watt inverter! Go boondocking in the mountains. Just pick a nice spot off of a national forest road. It's free and quiet. Who needs campgrounds when you can boondock.

Well, we pick her up this past Saturday. My 4yr old daughter already named her "Sally" It was 104F at Los Banos, CA where we pick her up. We were inside during the orientation and the AC seems to cool down the inside pretty well. Can't wait to take her out. First trip is the Casini Ranch in Sonoma, CA in first week of August.

Hey Tom, congratulations! Looking for something coastside? Try Costanoa, near Pescadero... we'll be there 7/30 - 8/1

thanks Steve. I wish I could that weekend, but we'll be down in San Diego for Sea World and the zoo. We'll be leaving AS at home. I am dying to take her out. We have a full schedule til end of the month so our first trip will be to Casini Ranch in Sonoma on 8/6-8/8. Check out their website when you get a chance. It seems like a great place.

I would really like to. After we check out Casini on our first trip, as long as the place is decent, we'll be there next April. Is this get together for the norcal crew?

30, that's impressive! Must have a pretty good group of people. I hope it's a "loose" bunch though. I don't need to spend my own money and time and be around "up tight" folks.
