Somewhat new airstream owner

Well, first let me introduce myself. I am single 51 year old woman, I live in the beautiful state of Alabama, and I absolutely adore camping. I was a popup owner for years, and I liked them, but really wanted more comforts of home, such as a full bath and air conditioning. I had a neighbor who had an Airstream when I was young, and so I went looking. I found a 1988 25 foot trailer near my house, and it was in good shape, and at a fair price, so I purchased the unit. It's a great unit, but it is a little short on space, and I am currently looking for a larger unit, and found this site while searching for Airstream classifieds. I have owned my 25 foot for about 8 months, and am looking forward to going camping again this weekend, but I'll have to see how things work. Look for more of my posts, I will be posting more!

Hey Jordan,

I'm from the South, too...Georgia.

I was like you, I wanted to buy a confortable RV.

I was looking at new box RV's and went to several RV shows and different dealership all around metro Atlanta, but they seemed so...cheap...I was not all that interested.

I later looked at a Vintage Airstream and something clicked. I started seriously researching Vintage Airstreams and found that this site had the best information and the most friendly people. It was the best resource for Vintage Airstream information I have found on the Internet.

As luck would have it, I found and purchased a 1968 Airstream 24' Tradewind from the father of a co-worker about a month and a half ago at a grest price.

I have since been adding my personal touches to the Airstream and have taken it out for trips twice, for nice long weekends.

Your 25' Airstream is to small? I have double hanging closet space and drawer storage I have not even used yet. But I am an old backpacker, my airstream is like a 5 star resort compared to backcountry hiking. HA

Good luck to you and your search for the perfect TT...and welcome to the best Vintage Airstream information site on the Internet. There are hundreds of people here that will help with any question you have about your airstream.

Welcome to the forums

Welcome! This is the place to find all things Airstream!

A 25 footer! We thought we "supersized" when we went from our 1946 teardrop to our 1963 Bambi! Glad you like your 'stream! If you go bigger than 25 feet, sometimes you can't go to certain campgrounds. Not sure if that would be an issue for you, but you might consider the ramifications... Good luck in your search.

Welcome Jordan. Wow--an Airstream, a diesel pickup and a love for camping. You're home!!!! Watch the classifieds for your next (notice I stayed away from the word final) purchase. As Silver Threads mentioned, let us know what you're looking for--we love to help shop for Airstreams/Argosy's.

Future AS owner w/questions

will be purchasing a NEW 2006 Classic 25' within the next few weeks. It was been outside on the lot for over 18 months. I realize that there is a dealer preparation required on the unit. Are there any other items that should be checked or serviced on the unit since it has been unused for that long. I was thinking that the brake fluid(has disk brakes) should be flushed and replaced.
My tow vehicle is a 2002 Ford F350 Crew Cab,SRW, with 8 foot bed and 7.3 Diesel. Any thoughts on the Equalizer hitch?
I have been RVing since 1993. Are their any Airstream specific items I should carry?
Thanks.
